Shayla McCormally is a problem solver. Whether helping clients navigate difficult
surrogacy issues, untangle family law problems, or recover after being injured, Shayla
devotes herself to creating the best possible solutions for her clients. “Whatever the issue,
I want to get to the core of the problem and come up with a solution,” Shayla explains.
“With creativity, hard work, and honesty, we can get things resolved positively and
fairly.”
Shayla maintains a general practice, including but not limited to civil litigation and
family law. She is also experienced with surrogacy, business organization, and personal
injury. In her litigation practice, Shayla takes the skills and experience she gained
working as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice (Civil Tax
Division) and puts them to work for her clients. She also gained extensive courtroom
experience as a prosecutor in Johnson County.
Shayla is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, where she was very active
in trial advocacy as a member of the National Trial Advocacy Team and the recipient of
the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Student Advocacy Award. While practicing

where her teams won both team and individual honors.
Shayla maintains an active interest in politics, particularly campaign finance and legal
compliance. Her article “Show Us Your Money: Halting the Use of Trade Organizations
as Covert Conduits for Corporate Campaign Contributions” was published in 2007.
